OUR STORY

ABOUT THE CLUB

A bit of history.... on the 18th May 1995 a meeting was called by Blue Lewis and held at the Matarangi Fire Station. The outcome of this meeting saw the formation of the Club. There were 15 present at this inaugural meeting, chaired by Blue, and a committee was formed.

THE ELECTED COMMITTEE

Rob Constable

Secretary: Trevor Lewis

Members: Blue Lewis. Barry Briggs, John Waldron, Brett Gordon, Mike McCormick.

Blue has been the constant driving force throughout the years for the success of the Club, instigating competitions and social events and is now the Club Patron and Life Member.

Many social events & competitions have been held over the years, with the popular Annual 2nd January Comp. running from the late 1990s and the Ladies Doris Day Out Comp since 2010.

While the role of the club has changed over the years, Blue says he is proud of what has been achieved and is very happy seeing how the fledging organisation has grown and developed to continue serving a larger and dynamic community. Seeing our junior membership grow is especially satisfying. "It's great seeing the young ones come through and getting into fishing, they're the future of the club".
